Thank you to everyone that made the 9th Annual Fallen Officer Bike Race and 5K a huge success! We endeavored to raise more money this year than ever, and we’re thrilled to announce that we surpassed our goal! On Thursday, November 10, members of the Highland Village Police Department and the HVBA presented a check for $35,000 to the Fallen Officer Fund. Richland Hills Police Chief (and Texas Police Chiefs Association Treasurer) Barbara Childress accepted the check on behalf of the Texas Police Chiefs Association’s Fallen Officer Fund.
An officer is killed in the line of duty every 61 hours. Since January 1, 2016, 171 officers have been killed in the line of duty across the nation, including 20 from Texas. The Fallen Officer Fund provides monetary assistance to Texas families of fallen officers within 24 hours following a line of duty death.
We would like to thank all of our sponsors once again for making this event such an amazing success!
