Interim Fire Chief Travis Nokes began his career in the fire service in August of 2000, as a volunteer with the Highland Village Fire Department.  Deputy Chief Nokes is responsible for EMS Operations and Training.  He was hired full-time in 2003 as a firefighter/paramedic and promoted to Captain in 2004.  In September of 2016, he was promoted to Deputy Fire Chief.  He studied Physical Education at Missouri Valley College and is currently working to complete his Bachelor’s in Fire Administration.  Deputy Chief Nokes recently graduated from a two year program with the Texas Fire Chiefs Academy and now holds the designation of Certified Fire Executive. He holds certifications as an Advanced Firefighter, Fire Officer II, Instructor II, and Intermediate Wildland Firefighter.

Assistant Fire Chief Jason Collier joined the Department in January of 2008, as the first full-time Assistant Fire Chief. He acts as the City's Fire Marshal and is responsible for the Support Division.  Chief Collier served as the Lake Cities Fire Chief for nine years before coming to Highland Village Fire Department. He began his career with the Allen Fire Department and has over 30 years of experience in the fire service. He holds an Associate's Degree in Fire Science from Collin College and certifications as a Master Firefighter, Arson Investigator, Fire Inspector, and Fire Instructor. He is a Certified Fire Officer IV and graduate of the Texas Fire Chief's Academy. Additionally, he has completed the Fire Service Chief Executive Officer Program and is cross-trained as a police officer as well as an EMT. He serves on the Texas Commission on Fire Protection Firefighter Advisory Board.
